The 5 Best Google Chrome Extensions for SEO

The Google Chrome web store has a massive collection of utilities that can benefit those doing search engine optimization. Most of these extensions offer exceptionally beneficial feedback about web pages without having to navigate away from the page along with other useful information. Extensions and plug-ins can be a great tools and assist in optimize a page or help in conducting competitive analysis. Here are a few of our favorites.

SEO SERP – This extension allows you to quickly search a web pages rank for given keywords. Click the plug-in icon in and a search box pops down for you to input your specific keyword(s). This is a great tool for doing research to see how your competitors are ranking for your niche keywords and also for determining your ranking in those same areas.

SEO site tools – This plug-in is probably the most in depth and helpful plug-in on Chrome. It gives you a complete search engine analysis of the current page. It displays how many external links the page has, what search engines it is indexed in and even how much the site spent on search engine marketing. Also, the plug-in shows domain and server information as well as on page info to see the sites title description and header tags. MozBar – is a great extension from SEOmoz, probably the authority on search engine optimization. This plug-in offers great instant data for web pages, including page authority and domain authority, which are the factors that SEOmoz created to judge a website’s reliability. Also, if you are PRO member on SEOmoz you get to unleash even more of the extension capabilities.  This is a great tool to use when looking to add quality internal links to your pages because can quickly check the credibility of the pages before your link to them.

SEOquake – This tool has been around for a while and was initially brought to the market as a Firefox extension. It show an overlay on your search engine page results to give your valuable information about the pages including Page Rank and what position it shows up in the other search engine result. This is another great competitive analysis tool to help you see what other pages ranking ahead of you are doing to get there.

Firebug – This is a simple tool that when clicked displays the source code of the website. It is a tremendous extension to use when examining and fixing page information.

There are obviously many, many more extensions that can be extremely helpful to use while optimizing for search engines. These are just a few that we use primarily and that we have had success with.

    I always have had Firebug installed in Firefox, and it is nice to see that it is also available in Chrome as well. It is interesting to see how many Firefox add-ons have been converted to Chrome extensions as well.

    The SEO site tools extension definitely looks very useful and I’ll have to install it and try it out.
