Whether you are looking to increase your conversion rate on your Google Adwords campaign, or grow the amount of inbound inquiries to your site, landing page design is key. The page that users are sent to following a click of an advertisement or from a search engine page result much be simple, to-the-point, and carve a clear path for customers to follow. If not, users will leave quickly, your bounce rate will increase, and your advertising dollars will be wasted.

Websites have about half of a second to make a good impression on potential customers. In this short amount of time, they subconsciously decide on the credibility of your site, the company, and if the product or service is something that they would possibly purchase. One of the best features of building a site on the WordPress platform is the flexibility and the ease to add new functions through plugins and widgets. Every day there are new plugins, updates, and functions released so it is important to stay up on the most recent add-ons that can benefit your site.

The WordPress plugin directory now features close 19,500 plug-ins and 300,000,000+ downloads. With that many choices, I am here to help you sort through the trash and present you my favorite plug-ins for 2012. I am not going to rehash the same plugins that every other post discusses like Yoast’s SEO plug-in or the Disqus comment system. Although those are great choices, I going to try to shed some light on the less mainstream.

For those of you who are not familiar with Quora, it is a question and answer site started by 2 former Facebook employees. The site is reportedly raising between $30-$50 million in series A funding at a $400 million valuation. So, people in the tech industry and venture capital see huge value in product that Quora has.

The competitive advantage for Quora is the fact that the site is frequented and used heavily by industry executives, innovators, and thought leaders. People like Marc Andreessen, the founder of NetScape and VC firm Andreessen-Horowitz, and Rand Fishkin, the founder of SEOmoz, are very active on the site. Users like this are what make the site so special and allow it to excel where sites like Yahoo! Answers have faltered in the past.

99designs is a relatively inexpensive way to get profession logo design, website design, and branding for your company. You choose how much you are willing to pay, describe what you are looking for, and guide the designers through the course of the contest as they compete to be the winning design and the prize money.

We just finished running a 99designs logo contest for a client and are pretty happy with the results. The finished product was a polished, professional looking logo. The process took a lot more time to monitor than we expected, though. Below are some quick tips that I have for those of you looking to run a contest in the future.
